Sasha The Squirrel
History
In January 2025, the Student Government Communications Committee (SGCC) wanted to create a mascot for their Student Senate Newsletter. Initially, members thought of a Puckman alternative, however, it was decided to go with a squirrel, given their prevalence on the RPI Campus.
The name Sasha was chosen for three primary reason:
- It was an homage to former Graduate Senator Sasha Lutsevich.
- It's a gender-neutral name.
- The alliteration of "Sasha the Squirrel" sounded catchy.
SGCC Member Natalie Hrytsyna drew up a few drafts, which now result in the first and current design of Sasha the Squirrel.
